Educational Qualifications

  • Educational Qualifications:

    • G.C.E. Ordinary Level (O/L): Must have passed at least 6 subjects in a single sitting, including Mother Tongue (Tamil/Sinhala/English), Science, Mathematics, and one other subject with credit passes.

    • G.C.E. Advanced Level (A/L): Must have passed 3 subjects (excluding General Paper and General English) in a single sitting, which must include at least two of the following: Pure Mathematics, Applied Mathematics, Combined Mathematics, or Physics (under Mathematics/Technology streams).

    • Professional Qualifications: Must possess a National Diploma in Technology (NDT) related to technology awarded by the Hardy Advanced Technological Institute (Ampara) or the University of Moratuwa, OR another equivalent technology qualification accepted by the Tertiary and Vocational Education Commission (TVEC).

 Experience & Age Limit


  • Experience: Prior experience is not strictly mandated as a prerequisite, but applicants must meet the general criteria, including being a permanent resident of the Eastern Province for at least 1 continuous year prior to the closing date (or having continuously resided in the Eastern Province for at least 3 years prior to marrying someone and moving there).

  • Age Limit: Must be not less than 18 years of age and not more than 30 years of age as of the closing date of applications (October 5, 2026).

How to Apply


  • Application Method: Applications must be submitted strictly online through the Eastern Province Provincial Council website portal at www.ep.gov.lk (Exams Online Application).

  • Application Window: Applications will be accepted starting from September 14, 2026 (9:00 AM) until October 5, 2026 (10:00 PM).

  • Examination Fee: An application/exam fee of Rs. 1,000/- must be paid on or before the closing date at any Divisional Secretariat located within the Eastern Province under the name "Secretary, Provincial Public Service Commission, Eastern Province".

  • Postal Submission: After applying online, download and print the completed application form (both sides of an A4 sheet), attach the original payment receipt firmly to it, get your signature duly attested by an authorized officer (such as a school principal, Justice of the Peace, or attorney), and send it by registered post.

  • Postal Address: Mail the package to: Secretary, Provincial Public Service Commission, Eastern Province, Kanniya Road, Varodayanagar, Trincomalee.

  • Envelope Label: Clearly write the examination code EX/REC/26/10 and "Open Competitive Examination for Recruitment to the Post of Soil Tester Grade III in the Eastern Provincial Public Service - 2026" on the top left corner of the envelope.
